The other day I stopped by an ammachi’s* place And saw seventy years worth of life written on her face For whatever reason I was there I’m not sure what for But placed up on the wall was a decorative board It said: “As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24. I got to thinking of this Ammachi’s energy from within How Jesus redefined her life when she accepted Him I wonder what it took for her to let her heart be given To the king of kings, saying “you’re my new religion” It’s crazy life can change just from one decision Taking a step of faith even without a vision She later moved to Houston, to work in health profession And attended church, where she built her intuition Then she got married New season of her life Her husband loved her Just as Jesus loved His bride Together they grew in Him In Him they stayed firm They started a bible study Where others could then learn Then one day her phone rang It was her brother that had called her “My son is moving to the states, Do you think that you’ll sponsor?” She gave it some thought. Then she agreed. And what happens from here on out is what directly affects me. Her nephew moved to Houston, she saw his heart was lost But this ammachi stayed faithful, despite the size of cost Apart from Jesus, she knew that life was truly grim But the God that redefined her could surely redefine him She finally said the Gospel. Explained Jesus was risen. The nephew came to light, and then became a Christian. They mentored him for years. Pouring into his life. Later down the road they arranged him with a wife. The nephew and his wife bought a home When less was more And in their hands was a decorative board It said: “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24. The nephew and his wife had a son And taught him faith Eventually that son went on to U of H** While he was at college, he said Christ is who he’d find That son is now writing this poem before your eyes So I’m staring at this ammachi as she slowly moves her limbs Jesus redefined her life when she accepted him It’s crazy lives changed just from her decision Because this ammachi is the reason why I became a Christian. There’s one question left which can be worded best: “Will you leave here giving Jesus your yes?” This is the question answered by generations before Now it’s our turn to determine what our future holds in store And in our own homes I hope hangs a decorative board Joshua 24 As for me and my nephew. As for me and my nephew’s son. As for me and my generations to come. As for me and my house. We will serve the Lord Until we see Him face to face on that beautiful shore Our eyes will meet with His This is the God who listened To the prayers of this ammachi Thanks to the crucifixion Will Jesus redefine our life? It is now left to our decision.
